The Add-in can replace attachments, automatically uploading files to Nextcloud and insert a secure link in the email. It also makes it easy for users to provide others with a secure file upload link.
A major new version of the Sendent Outlook Add-in for Nextcloud has been made available. The new release introduces a complete redesign of the user interface and a server app to configure a variety of settings. With it comes a name change of our partner to Sendent as well as a differentiation of the product in four versions. All paid versions come with the server app, which can be used to configure the add-in on the users' systems.
Upload folders, branding, the treshold for interception of attachments and more can be set here. You can get the new free edition of the add-in here. Nextcloud customers or prospects can ask their account manager for a free trial of the Premium edition any time.

How to install it?If you want to share a file or a group of files with somebody, there is a number of options. The most basic way of sharing is using a link. You create such a link, send it to the intended recipient and they can open the link in their browser.
They will see the file or folder as you shared and can edit or make changes depending on the settings you configured.
Recipients have no access to comments, sharing, or the activity log, but chat is available if you have Talk enabled. As they have no account, they can not use Nextcloud clients or use any of the apps of Nextcloud. A link share is thus most useful when you want to share one time with somebody, less when you regularly share with them and want them to share with you. You can also just type the email address of the recipient and choose the option with the little mail icon on the right.
They will receive a link share by email. This way you can identify who you send the link to! If they upload a file with the same name as an existing file, Nextcloud will automatically rename the new one. Instead of sharing as a public link, you can share to another user by typing their name and choosing the option with no icon on the right. You can share with a group and also directly to a Talk chat room!
With a user or group share, you and the recipient s can see who did what in the activity view, and comment on the file. The recipient can re-share the file or folder, and you will be able to see whom they shared with. Projects probably deserve their own blog, but in simple terms: they are a way to connect files, chat rooms, tasks, and other objects across apps. What if you want to have your cake and eat it too?
You can, with guest accounts and cross-server sharing! Nextcloud has the concept of guest accounts. Once you have, typing an email address will give you the option to create a Guest account for the email address.
The recipient will get a mail with instructions on how to set up the account and then receives the share. First, they have no storage. They only have access to files and folders shared with them, and the files they put in them are accounted to the storage quotas of the users who gave them the folders to put the files in. Second, administrators can control what apps the guests have access to.
By default, that is limited to files, Photos, and Activities — which means the users can see what happened to the files they have access to and view them, but they can not access mail, calendar, or other features.
The administrator can, however, give them access to other apps, if you wish. Well, like you can email from a Gmail account to a Hotmail user, you can share files from your own Nextcloud server to a user on another!
This uses a Federated Cloud ID, a fancy name for what is like an email address. They look like email addresses, too, taking the form of [username] [servername].
As we discuss in our full Nextcloud reviewNextcloud can be self-hosted locally on your own hardware, or remote-hosted on rented server space. Setting up a Nextcloud cloud instance can be as complicated as you want it to be, but this guide aims to demonstrate how easy it is to switch from commercial services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, iDrive, OneDrive and suchlike, to a cloud solution which you have complete control over.
As such, both methods discussed below are hosted. That is, the Nextcloud instances are installed on remote servers. The idea of setting up your own cloud storage might sound scary, but the Nextcloud desktop software makes it extremely easy. Nextcloud has partnered with a number of cloud storage providers who will set up and manage a Nextcloud instance for you.
Most of these offer a free trial tier with limited storage, which can be expanded for a fee. In addition to the privacy implications the provider has full access to your files and account data most of these accounts come with a limited feature set which is determined by the provider. These accounts generally provide everything most people need from a personal cloud service, including a photo gallery and music player, but may not offer more advanced features such as file versioning and end-to-end encryption.
Just be aware that the account provider still also has administrator access to your account, although the privacy implications of this can be heavily mitigated against by enabling end-to-end encryption. Downloadinstall, and run the Nextcloud desktop client or mobile app for your platform. Enter your email address and pick an account provider. For this tutorial, we chose OwnCube because the 5GB free personal account is quite generous, and we prefer servers based in Germany to Austria on privacy grounds.
Decide which folders you would like to sync to your computer from the server, and which folders on your PC you would like to sync to the server. Your provider will email you confirmation that your account has been created and provide the server address and login details you will need to access the web portal and link apps on other devices. The first thing you will probably want to do is log in to the web portal in order to explore the full range of features available to your account.
Although very easy to set up, a fully hosted account like the one discussed above means that you do not have complete control over your own cloud. It is managed for you, even if you have paid for administrator access. If you want complete control which is, after all, the main appeal of Nextcloud in the first place then the easiest way to do it is using the Nextcloud web installer.
Purchase some server space. In theory, you can use a free server account, but in researching this article we found very few free accounts that matched the Nextcloud server system requirements.
Do please check that any service you sign-up for matches these requirements. Download the nextcloud web installer filesetup-nextcloud. Click on the Upload button and select the setup-nextcloud.Joinsubscribers and get a daily digest of news, geek trivia, and our feature articles.
Services like Dropbox make it easy for you to access your files on multiple devices. However, you might want more control over them. Nextcloud is open-source software that allows you to sync files between your PC and other devices, just as you would with Dropbox, Onedrive, or Google Drive. In addition, Nextcloud has a vibrant app ecosystem that allows you to do more than just sync files. You can even set up a live chat program exclusively for you and anyone else who can access your server.
Before we get into the details, though, there is a warning. This means that in addition to managing the Nextcloud software, you have to make sure the underlying server operating system stays up to date with patches.
The good news is there are heaps of blogs, forumsand help pages to assist you in troubleshooting. Whichever service you choose, the key is to run Ubuntu Every virtual server provider is a bit different, but they all aim to get a server up and running with a few mouse clicks.

There was a time when you had to configure and install the Nextcloud software, PHP, web server software, and database all separately. If all goes well, in a minute or two, Nextcloud will be installed, and almost ready for action. If you chose DigitalOcean, for example, those settings would be ns1. Next, go to your server provider for example, DigitalOcean, Linode, or whatever you choseand add the new domain to your account.

In that proposal you could fork thunderbird and make it more slender and integrate the calendar function as default. The community needs a open source Microsoft Exchange and Outlook alternative imho.
Nextcloud needs to be Nextcloud. Including everything under the sun in a single product is always a horrible idea. This product runs on platforms that already have perfectly workable mail servers available for them. Additionally, this prodcut is a server side system. I understand your point. But I was not talking about all features under the sun just about a feature to support another data critical aspect of life.
It might be possible to view all mails from that mail server in your nextcloud UI or provide a graphical userinterface for that mail server. Not as fancy as roundcube yet, but usable for basic stuff. Current Owncloud has a promising - albeit beta - mail client with basic features and connectivity to popular mail server backend protocols like imap, pop, smtp. Please have a look at the github discussions for the mail app about encryption; basically it is not desirable to have private keys on the cloud server, so we have a conceptual issue here.
By the way, we have the same issue with contacts and calendars: no server side encryption possible. I agree with JaredBusch entirely. As Ben mentions, an app client or management interface that can integrate with an existing mail server would be a worthwhile approach. Also ChristophWurst Gomez and jan are already here.
There are already great open source mail servers such as postfix or exim.
The Nextcloud blog
Someone could provide a configuration sample for the mailserver together with a configuration interface plugin for owncloud like postfixadmin or vexim.
They have their own documentation and their own prerequisites. The mail App just uses standard protocols in a standard way yes, the mail. You should take a look at www. Hi jospoortvliet. Beyond of what had be said, mail servers are too complex security-wise to be integrated into anything. A mail server is something completely different. Until then, you should try your own mail server and you will soon realize why there are so few rolling their own.
Including a mail server is a whole nother ballgame. Ok let met change my suggestion to improve the mail server integration instead of create a Nextcloud mail server.
And we want to deeply integrate it, like Calendar and Contacts. Hi alefattorini!!! Nice to see you here. Nethserver offers a great base for Nextcloud, once we have our first release very, very soon! Maybe ChristophWurst and Gomez of the Mail app want to state their plans here? There is no sane reason to implement that ourselves if we can use a standardized protocol to communicate with existing, well tested, open source IMAP severs.
Nextcloud Mail Server feature. I will strongly disagree with this. Prefered Distro.
